i just finished watching this show on channel 5 titled "my time with ah gong". its some local production starring this old dude steven woo, if i didnt remember wrongly. its about this old man whose daughter, after neglecting him for so many years, she returns to ask him for a favor, that is to take care of her son, terry, while she goes overseas for a job stint. she could only return to her dad cause her son is quite a terror to manage and no relatives want to help her care take him.
so this grandson gets a big culture shock when he first lived with his grandfather. being all spoilt and pampered he couldnt tolerate pretty much anything his grandfather did. and he pranked and rather much insulted him throughout much of the show. but his grandfather still tried to fulfill most of his "needs" which included pokemon emerald versions, repairing his gameboy, blah blah. those were returned in favor by stealing his memorable photos to sell, asking him to go away and stay away from his school, etc etc.
then one day, terry ran away from home cause he couldnt tolerate grandpa no more. he goes to the kopitiam that his grandpa goes to often and is chided by two of the kopiladies for not appreciating him, and warned that when theres no more family with him, he will really regret.
but at the same time, as he suddenly "woke up" from his ignorance, his ah gong had an accident back home due to one of his pranks set up long ago, marbles on the floor. terry and e kopilady went back in time to rescue him and treated his injuries. that was when terry phoned his overseas mum and became super apologetic that he hurt his ah gong. that was after he found his gameboy fixed, together with a brand new pokemon emerald version.
so as to makeup for all the wrong that hes done to ah gong, he undone all the stuff that he did to him, like getting back his stolen photo. and seeing that hes all broke from fulfilling his "needs", he went to do some karang guni work in place of his ah gong, who is a karang guni man in the first place.(ah gong was a 1337 footballer but he retired long time ago). that was when mummy came back and wanted to take terry home. but terry suddenly showed super concern for his ah gong, and hence mum also "woke up" to how she neglected her own father. and hence it ends by saying that his ah gong passed away one year later. (ah gong had an illness and doc said hes left with 6 mths)

well still fine for my first show review haha. but well, it (almost) made me cry, one thing is that i am so ashamed that there are kids treating their elders like that despite of the love that is showered on them. ignorant and self-centered. this makes me want to appreciate my grandparents more. but.. given my (broken) family situation i dont even see my paternal ones often. in fact i havent seen them for quite long already. =[ ~~
live earth is coming this sat. well it also makes me feel damn ashamed that there are people who are too myopic to see what their actions like burning the entire forest down or getting the latest car just for themselves instead of maximising its capacity. hence now we got the stupid weather weve been getting this year and maybe last year. super unusually hot days, and super wet ones. and the rest of the world has taken quite a beating from earthquakes tsunamis storms and everything you can think of. a few more animals species have become extinct while i typed this post. think about it. air conditioning the whole day? i dont even have an air con unit in my room.
save the earth. save yourself too. selfish bastards.
