Unlike last year when i was stuck at pasir ris camp (or rather half the day had me stuck at pulau tekong jungle), this year i managed to spend the actual day with my hunny Meibao! but theres always a catch to everything, isnt it? i couldnt find a reservation at our usual restaurants nor at the new ones i tried ( i cant remember the names, so many! but NOT fullerton, as i recalled differently.)

so instead we went for valentines' lunch instead. as usual, marsche was on the deck.

after which, we shopped for a while, and she bought me a shirt BUT I PAID FOR IT RAWR.

by the time we're done with vivocity, it was already like say, 2pm? so off we went to sentosa! to see flowers LOL 赏花
well the place was ENORMOUS.....for a singaporean =x

lots of flowers of different kinds all over the place at some bloody big terrace THAT WE HAD TO CLIMB CAUSE THE ESCALATORS WERE DOWN.

if i didnt remember wrongly the photographer (some crew aka saikungwarrior for the event) actually felt amused by this boliao pose by us.

站在桃花树旁,有桃花运!LOL

we ended the day with a good ol' ride at the luge AND SKYRIDE which totally freaked the altophobic Meibao out. i used to be like that till the day i was arrowed to become an airborne ranger. then again maybe not. armourer > all
till next time then.

btw, have you realised THE ANG PAOS ALL SHRINKED? damn.

when i came home today, i felt a pang of guilt soon after i stepped in.

mum was half-hobbling towards to fridge, and got herself a couple of panadols to pop. i asked her, 'you sick ah?'

'ya lor, i have to go work now' was her reply.

it was like, suddenly i felt like the most evil person on Earth (like im not already a demon to some people =/) mum is sick yet she has to slog out late into the night for me to get that nice shirt off the new arrivals shelf? or that latest graphics accelerator or try out that fancy restaurant? all in the expense of her health. ohmygawd, im being such a big fucker.

i gave it a little thought into the future. kids these days are already losing their sense of value for money. comparing who has the most expensive obiang sling bag (sidenote, i still have to thank meibao for my barney rustle) or who else the most heels. its not even their own dough. also also, i have to thank the fact that i worked before i came into the army, so i know what it feels like to actually work for your own cash. (then again, the army makes it worse doesnt it) so anyway back to the point, i wont expect much difference thanks to the influence of pop culture. as they say in chinese, 衣来伸手,饭来张口. you wont feel the financial and emotional strain if youre not contributing for the well-being of others.

so after that heart-wrenching moment, i shall find a way to survive with just 437.50. and hopefully, SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME TUTOR THEM. PLS? LOL.

the point is, next time you want to spend the money that isnt yours, please think about how the person would feel when he/she just wants to earn that extra few bucks to give you some short-lived enjoyment, and more critically,
YOU NOT APPRECIATING IT. nuff said.

on the 2nd day of cny, i went visiting with a special guest, that is my dear meibao. haha good for her cause she got so many more ang paos zzz. after which before i went to my aunt's place for dinner we went to watch 长江7号 cause she said kung fu dunk isnt nice. (on a seperate note, ive been told "ah long pte ltd" is quite a fine movie to watch despite the screwed up ratings. perhaps its the globalisation of reporters?)

*spoiler alert*
长江7号 is an atypical mo-lei-tau comedy by stephen chow and is something worth the watch no matter what kind of rating it gets. its about a boy (whos actually played by a girl, i was wrong LOL) and his darn poor father who decides to slog it out to send the son to an elite (uncaring face) private school while others usually settle for public schools.they live in a half torn down house thats surrounded by piles of trash, where e dad picks up old school shoes and such for the kid. one fine day after the kid wanted some crappy toy, dad picks up some funny ball like thing and gives it to kid. it turns out to be some space dog of sorts, and decides to call it 长江7号. nonsense slapstick humour ensues and at the middle of the story, dad dies from a freak accident at work (safety is one of SAF's core values) and whilst trying to revive dad, CJ7 runs out of batt and "dies" and turns into a small doll complete with X_X eyes. at the end while enjoying the new school term the kid finds e spaceship that gave it 长江7号 and it ends with a whole army of e same space dog with lots of different designs running towards it.

though its a comedy, it really puts out the feeling of having someone very close to you suddenly taken away, seemingly forever (when the dad died). not to mention the kind of loyalty and love that the space dog gave to the kid (to the point it ran out of batt lol) makes you want to give the same to the people you love.. (not the process of reviving him/her zzz) it kinda made me weep i admit, hence any movie that can make me do that when its supposed to (unlike movies like Alone, which made me sleep) is a success and worth all the stars people give it.
*end of spoiler*

and darn it MS is like, dead during CNY. then again singapore should appreciate service sectors more, and we ( i used to be one b4 i changed master [SAF] ) deserve a break at these kinda festivities. unlike my poor friends who were in camp taking long walks lol =x

and whats a date without camwhoring! too bad my cam ran out of batt too (LOL) in the middle of the session.
(photos will be added later. damn blogger's uploading system)

no its not that big bookstore at Wheelock.

on last saturday i saw this slogan on the kinky shirt that my uncle-in-law wore to reunion dinner @ ah yat. it goes:

"BORDERS ARE NOT DRAWN ON MAPS"

when i thought of it, kind of true though. borders to me, are more like lines in our head drawn to keep us away from scary people. the thing is, no one's scarier than ourselves, get it? (no racial offense) for every bangla joke up in the air, theres another chinese joke to shoot it down. so on and so forth, the idea's there.

regarding that, its kind of the result of borders in our head. if not for that, we wont be cultivated in a society that breeds with a tinge of fascism. that "we are the best in cheap wine and water recycling, many other countries want to learn from us!" [<--- designed statement]

(oh by the way if you havent realised, i was talking about national borders.)

so when you hear about all blondes being dumb, or scots being angry, chinese being noisy and bangladeshis being plain weird, dont just point the finger at anyone and scream 'racist' just yet.instead, blame the fact that we are evolving and developing too fast for our own good, and not being able to get over our mentality of tribes and villages and anti-gypsies (medieval europe) mentalities.
so what i forsee in the future is similar to what happens in the (rather) new anime series "Mobile suit Gundam 00", minus the big godly robots perhaps.
in the anime, humans, in the 24th century, still fail to unite as one common ideal and participate in zero-sum war games with one another. this is despite the depletion of fossil fuels and the total dependence on solar energy in the form of giant solar panel batteries.
~~~~
honestly, i kind of lost my thoughts in the middle so i dont really know what im typing. haha then again, it really sets my mind thinking what would happen if we could one day, agree to "erase" away the non-existent borders on our lands. thats alot of rubber man.
~~~~

chinese new year's in a couple of days' time~! are you ready? went to give myself a little pampering (with a bit of help from mum la. im only a LCP for goodness. been so long since i had a head of black that isnt littered with white. these days though, dont you feel that festivities dont feel so much as they did say, 5 years back? back then when i was still wearing khaki shorts, festivities always like, a time-mark (derived from landmark. LOL) for me. its like saying "congratulations! you survived till (insert event)" holidays aside, i really enjoy the time spent with the people i like doing stuff that we like. (like mahjong mwahahahahahaha) but whats missing? oh well.
