on last saturday i saw this slogan on the kinky shirt that my uncle-in-law wore to reunion dinner @ ah yat. it goes:
"BORDERS ARE NOT DRAWN ON MAPS"
when i thought of it, kind of true though. borders to me, are more like lines in our head drawn to keep us away from scary people. the thing is, no one's scarier than ourselves, get it? (no racial offense) for every bangla joke up in the air, theres another chinese joke to shoot it down. so on and so forth, the idea's there.
regarding that, its kind of the result of borders in our head. if not for that, we wont be cultivated in a society that breeds with a tinge of fascism. that "we are the best in cheap wine and water recycling, many other countries want to learn from us!" [<--- designed statement]
(oh by the way if you havent realised, i was talking about national borders.)
so when you hear about all blondes being dumb, or scots being angry, chinese being noisy and bangladeshis being plain weird, dont just point the finger at anyone and scream 'racist' just yet.instead, blame the fact that we are evolving and developing too fast for our own good, and not being able to get over our mentality of tribes and villages and anti-gypsies (medieval europe) mentalities. so what i forsee in the future is similar to what happens in the (rather) new anime series "Mobile suit Gundam 00", minus the big godly robots perhaps. in the anime, humans, in the 24th century, still fail to unite as one common ideal and participate in zero-sum war games with one another. this is despite the depletion of fossil fuels and the total dependence on solar energy in the form of giant solar panel batteries. ~~~~
honestly, i kind of lost my thoughts in the middle so i dont really know what im typing. haha then again, it really sets my mind thinking what would happen if we could one day, agree to "erase" away the non-existent borders on our lands. thats alot of rubber man. ~~~~
chinese new year's in a couple of days' time~! are you ready? went to give myself a little pampering (with a bit of help from mum la. im only a LCP for goodness. been so long since i had a head of black that isnt littered with white. these days though, dont you feel that festivities dont feel so much as they did say, 5 years back? back then when i was still wearing khaki shorts, festivities always like, a time-mark (derived from landmark. LOL) for me. its like saying "congratulations! you survived till (insert event)" holidays aside, i really enjoy the time spent with the people i like doing stuff that we like. (like mahjong mwahahahahahaha) but whats missing? oh well.
